College Dorm Survival Kit

My cousin will be embarking on her college adventure this fall and I thought I'd put together a college/dorm survival kit to give her at her high school grad party.  I was trying to think of all those little things that one forgets when packing up for living on your own for the first time.

Item included in this survival kit are:
Rubber/Plastic Shower Tote

Wash Cloths
Bath/Shower Gel
Body Lotion
Bath Scrubbie/Sponge
Shower Shoes (flip flips)
Manicure Kit
Hand Sanitizer
Screwdriver Tool Set
Flashlight

Another Personalized Gift Idea: Cutting Board

Here is another personalized gift idea.  This is perfect for weddings, house-warmings & showers!!

Purchase a plain 'ole cutting board (Home Goods usually has a fabulous selection).  Then, using some vinyl to create a stencil, staz-on ink & a foam make-up applicator, you can create a personalized gift!

Bedroom: Before, During, and After

Before we even moved into our new house I had come across a photo of HUGE tree decals that I just fell in love with. I ordered them on the spot and couldn't wait to put them up in our new bedroom. Well, it took me forever to choose new bedding, which spiraled into finding a new paint color for the walls, which meant new window treatments, etc...basically the trees were the last thing to go up in a room where everything was changing. Well, this weekend I was finally ready for them!!

Here is the room after the new bed, new bedding, new paint color & new window treatments. I wish I would have gotten a "true" before pic...

Here is wall after about 4 1/2 hours of work. Every limb, branch & twig had to be cut out, matched up with it's base, & taped up on the wall so proper spacing could be figured out.
Here is where I started to get really excited and re-energized...I can finally see light at the end of a very long tunnel!
And here they are, my beautiful birch trees just like I'd envisioned!

Special "K" Front Door Decor

Now that all my Christmas decorations have been taken down, our front door looks so blah. I was visiting a local boutique and saw twine-wrapped letters that I just LOVED and I thought our front door would be a perfect spot for one! The only thing holding me back was the $68.00 price tag per-letter. After inspecting it, it truly was just a twine-wrapped letter so I knew I could totally replicate that on my own...and I did with an extra little embellishment!

Here are the supplies I used: a letter K, a silk flower, and black ribbon from my local craft store; twine from my local hardware store; and a little craft glue from my stash at home.
I used a staple gun to adhere the ribbons to the backside for hanging later. And here's what the letter looks like as you're wrapping and gluing the twine:
Here it is all wrapped in twine (this step took about 10 hours!):
And then I added a flower and leaves:
Tie a bow and hang it and you're done!
